What size hook for carp

I have seen lots of discussion regarding which size hook for carp and it seems this is a difficult question to definitively answer.

I tend to try and adjust my hook size on the size of bait rather than the size of carp but I could be wrong!

what size hook do you use for carp fishing, any advice would be appreciated.
